Phoned today to tell him I took exception to a number of points contained in his 10 October memorandum.

I did not think they accurately reflected our telephone con- versation. (He chuckled). I went on to say I thought we should avoid getting into a memorandum-writing contest, and that the important thing to do was to get on with the job. Proposed the following: a. That I work up a draft defining a working relationship between the Staff and the Division; and b. That Phase areas name. I work up a task schedule relating to II studies in the Comptroller and DD/S to include personnel assignments by 2. I said I hoped to have this ready in a couple of days, at which time I would come by and discuss it with him. If the two of us could agree to a harmonious modus operandi, then we could present a unified position to the Office of Personnel and thus iron out the difficulties now inherent in the ADPD staff complement proposal.
