I regret, however, that the article in ACA UPDATE, entitled “Spooks in the Wheat Fields,” which re e~’”rreU “unclassified annual CIA assessments” of Soviet crops, was incorrect. The CIA agricultural estimates are classified and not available to farmers or any other sector outside the U.S. Government, We wrote to ACA on April 22 and asked that the reference in their March issue of UPS be corrected. The CIA crop estimates are available only to the USDA and those appropriate government officials who have a need for classified crop intelligence. Thank gou in any case for writing.
