More Book Details

Description of the Book:

Tests conducted in the laboratory determined that the insect detector (second prototype) could distinguish between a sample with three live insects per pound and an uninfested sample of stored food products. The detector could not differentiate between no infestation and one insect in 5-pound packaged commodities or a 1-pound sample of whole grain. The length of time necessary to test a sample and extrinsic interferences from various sources made the first and second prototypes of the hidden insect detector operationally unsatisfactory.
