Description of the Book:

Each year the National Research Council (NRC) conducts a Resident Research Associateship Program (RRAP) for the Air Force Systems Command (AFSC). For the past several years approximately 20 NRC people have participated each year. The objectives of the program are: (1) to provide postdoctoral scientists and engineers of unusual promise and ability opportunities for research on problems, largely of their choice which are compatible with research interests of the sponsoring laboratories (2) to contribute thereby to the overall research effort of the participating AFSC laboratories. Currently nine AFSC laboratories participate in the program. Appointments to selected applicants are for a period of one year and are renewable for a second year. The program is intended to be analogous to fellowships, associateships and similar temporary programs at the doctorate level in universities and other organizations. (Author
