More Book Details
Description of the Book:
Most large-scale force-level simulations assume perfect communications. The goal of the Global Information Enterprise Simulation (GIESim) Lab is the development of a modeling and simulation framework that bridges these communication gaps. PSI was chosen to participate in the formation of the GIESim Lab. PSI performed several analyses on the requirements and architecture needed to ensure success of the GIESim Lab. Analyses performed by PSI spanned user and application requirements, requirements for generic infrastructure, and a generic approach to model architecture and simulation development needed to cut time and cost of producing valid realizations that met performance needs. To elucidate on the capabilities of General Simulation System (GSS) created by PSI, PSI prepared an in-depth overview of GSS attributes applicable to GIESim. Also, PSI created a model taxonomy to help frame the GIESim models selection process. In addition, PSI demonstrated a multi-simulation environment using HLA and TCP/IP as a proof of concept for the GIESim approach.
This multi-simulation demonstration consisted of separate simulations of Emitters, Unattended Ground Sensors, an Integrated Air Defense System (LADS), and an Operations Management System (OMS) for the NFSS Project. PSI suggested several research topics for FY03/04 to ensure the success of the GIESim Lab
