Description of the Book:

This document evaluates five protocol material units developed by the Protocol Materials Development Project, University of Colorado. The five units were a) Conceptualizing the Process of Instruction; b) Learners and Their Characteristics: Implications for Instructional Decision-Making; c) Verbal Interaction in the Cognitive Dimension: The Relationships Between Teacher Verbal Behavior and Student Response; d) Organizing Facts to Teach Meaningful Relationships; and e) Fair Verbal Response. The rationale and objectives for evaluation, procedures for conducting field tests, and results are detailed. Procedures are described in four areas: selection of field test instructor and students, selection of the comparison group, the instruments and collection and treatment of the data, and the return of the data.
