Description of the Book:

This third in a series of eight learning modules on professional role and development is designed to give secondary and postsecondary vocational teachers help in developing the basic competencies needed to develop and maintain a personal philosophy of education and ethical standards. The terminal objective for the module is to develop an active personal philosophy of education while working in an actual school situation. Introductory sections relate the competencies dealt with here to others in the program and list both the enabling objectives for the six learning experiences and the resources required. Materials in the learning experiences include required readings, self-check quizzes with model answers, a case study to critique with model critique, personal philosophy work forms and checklist, and the teacher performance assessment form for use in evaluation of the terminal objective. (The modules on professional role are part of a larger series of 100 performance-based teacher education (PBTE) self-contained learning packages for use in preservice or inservice training of teachers in all occupational areas.

Each of the field-tested modules focuses on the development of one or more specific professional competencies identified through research as important to vocational teachers.
