Phelps, William Goodell says he agrees with Phelps that Syracuse is the good place for the forthcoming missionary convention. Protesting to Phelpśs plan to visit Washington during the meeting, he says everyone expected that Phelps would be the leading proposer of measures at the convention, and gives reason that Phelps is a better person for the role than Goodell himself
