Holograph, signed’, ‘Title devised by cataloger’, ‘A quarter of the sheet (the upper half of page 1 and 2) is missing’, ‘On verso, the delivery address is “Richard Davis Webb, Esq, Gt Brunswick Street, Dublin.”‘, ‘With a seal’, ‘Frederick Douglass acknowledges the reception of Webb́s letter and the books Webb sent. He says that he still does not like the new portrait of himself. Pointing out that Webb was the first to advise to obtain introductory letters from clergymen, Douglass says the letters will be inserted in the 2nd edition despite Webb́s condemnation
