Description of the Book:

Wudtke doesn’t know exactly when Advance was founded, but says his uncle Max Wudtke attended a log schoolhouse here in 1887. The school wa built in l875 on Highway C. The community built another school in 1903.
Advance once had a thriving business community made up of a grocery store, barbershop, two taverns, a hardware store that handled farm machinery, a cheese factory, garage, public school, Methodist church, hotel, dance hall, sawmill, blacksmith, taxidermy, and harness and shoe repair shops.
“It was a pretty bustling town.” says Frieda Kroening, Route 1, Cecil. Advance held dances, weddings, shows and plays but that ended about 30 years ago, she says
