This is followed by an in-depth study of pre-Christian and Christian Syriac literature, with special sections on Syriac literature after the Muslim conquest, and Syriac literature after Barhebraeus. The great importance of Syriac authors, their original works and translations, their role as conduits of Greek knowledge to the Arabs also are discussed in this excellent monograph.
