Like Whitman with Leaves of Grass, I’ve tended over the years to collect all my poetry in one ever-growing volume, The Emerald Canticle of Hermes. The title isn’t just one of the poems; it’s an homage to Joyce’s Finnegans Wake. My interests are eclectic, and therefore my poems reflect that. Some are mystical, some religious, some political, some ironic, some garnished with arcane jewels, some so accessible and laughable that I have no doubt the reader will enjoy wiping the sweat of critical analysis of his or her brow. Keep in mind that the One-Eyed Jack cantos remain a work in progress.
