Description of the Book:
Thesis advisor, Roman Laba’, ‘”September 1996.”‘, ‘Thesis (M.A. in National Security Affairs) Naval Postgraduate School, September 1996’, ‘Bibliography: p. 85-91’, “This thesis records the results of a data-based analysis of 207 intrastate wars from 1945 to 1995. The intent of developing this database was to statistically determine the involvement of indigenous peoples in violent rebellion since 1945. The hypothesis was that a definable group, indigenous peoples, had been active in civil strife out of all proportion to its numbers. This had not been seen as major theories categorized the insurgents of social revolutions and civil strife as peasants or ethnonations. The analysis starts with a descriptive assessment of who and where indigenous peoples are by establishing a working definition. Next, it identifies the statistically supportable regional and international trends of their participation in intrastate conflict. The ultimate goal of the thesis was to determine the percentage of intrastate wars in which indigenous peoples participated, their role in the war, and who they supported.
Another goal accomplished was to establish a database on modem intrastrate conflict, which had not been done before. The conclusion was that indigenous peoples had indeed played a significant role in a large proportion of the world’s intrastate conflicts since 1945″, ‘Mode of access: World Wide Web’, ‘System requirements: Adobe Acrobat Reader’, ‘US Air Force (USAF) author’, ‘dk/dk cc:9996 07/03/96
